After seven years of waiting, Dorart spoke his first words and can now repeat everything he hears. The moment he said “I love you” was unforgettable for his mother. He has also started counting, reciting the alphabet, and recognizing numbers. His nonverbal communication has improved—he has learned to wave goodbye and engages more in social interactions, initiating contact more often. He is noticeably calmer, with improved attention; previously, his mother had to call his name five times to get a response, but now he responds after one or two calls and follows commands more easily. His eating and sleeping have improved, and his constipation has lessened.
